In the current national context of economic crisis and urban mobility, several Brazilian cities have invested in encouraging bicycle use policies as an alternative to these problems. In addition to facilitating the daily trips, the bike has also been considered an important tool for the development of local and regional tourism, contributing to the heating of related businesses and the appreciation of the natural and built heritage of these places.
Aiming to reflect on some emblematic national and international experiences on the subject of urban cycling, the Federal Fluminense University, in partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the Niterói City Hall and the group Niterói Mobility, will organize a major event that will bring together several actors who already work in this area, including the private and public sectors, academia, and non governmental organizations. It is also expected that with this initiative, new projects and business opportunities can be realized, contributing to the development of tourism and cycling in the national scope.
